Let me introduce you to Stitch Fix. Stitch Fix is an online personal shopping service, offering a new way to shop for clothes and accessories. I love shopping online, and love trying new ways to shop, so I thought it would be fun to give Stitch Fix a try. To start, I filled out a style survey so the stylists could get to know me, my style and my preferences. The survey was very detailed. For example, I answered questions about if I prefer dresses, pants or skirts. If I wear mostly professional attire, formal or casual attire. If I consider my style to be classic, boho, casual chic or rocker. And then I answered questions about my sizing and price range. It made me feel more comfortable with the process because the survey was so detailed. It gave me confidence that I would get a package of things that would truly suit my style. And finally, I was able to select a date for delivery for my Fix. The Stitch Fix package contains approximately 5 items, and can be a mix of clothes, jewelry and accessories (depending on your preference). The package arrives on a Wednesday or Thursday and you have until Monday to try to on the clothes and whatever you don't want, you can return in a prepaid envelope. Easy-peasy! All that I paid at the time I placed my order was a $20 styling fee. The good news is if I decide to purchase something from my Fix, then the $20 will be applied to my order. There is no obligation for me to purchase anything from my Fix, but if I decide to send everything back, I will forfeit your deposit. $20 is not a bad price to pay, considering the shipping and returns are free. And if I buy everything in my Fix, I will receive a 25% on the total purchase.
My package arrived yesterday and I can honestly say that I was very happy with everything in the box. I think the stylists did a nice job of selecting things that suited my taste. There was a mix of dresses along with a beautiful necklace.
Here is a break-down of each item I received:
$149
I was very excited to see this dress in the box. It's a gorgeous zigzag tribal print and I love maxi dresses. I loved the deep-v in the front and the empire waist. Unfortunately, once I tried it on it was too short on me. This is a problem for me with dresses because I am so tall. This would be lovely on someone else. So sadly, this dress was a pass.
$152
This dress appealed to me right away. I love frilly, girly dresses such as this, and I love the color. It is very flattering and fun. I debated about keeping this dress for the longest time. I finally decided to send it back, only because I wasn't sure if I would get a lot of use out of it to justify the price. It's a little fancy, and I don't get all that dressed up all that often. Sadly, this was a pass as well (but VERY hesitantly).
$149
The print of this dress is darling!!! It immediately caught my eye and it was the first dress I tried on. It has a cute criss-cross in the front and back, that adds a sexy detail while still being modest. This was the only item that I had never heard of the brand before. I was so happy to discover a new brand that has such cute clothes. Unfortunately, this dress was way too short on me. I considered wearing it as a tunic, but the length was still awkward on me. This dress was a pass.
$95
This dress I never would have selected for myself and would have never tried on if I saw it hanging on a rack. Yet, to my surprise it was my favorite dress of them all. It's very flattering and easy to wear. And I love the coral color on the skirt. I think it's very versatile and I could see wearing it all year. This dress was a keeper! Yay! (I'll be sharing a Look Book post soon)
Beaded Necklace
$78
This necklace is stunning. The beads are beautiful quality and have a pretty shine to them. The coral, pink and grey combination I found to be very unique and pretty. I tried it on with different pieces from my wardrobe, and although I really liked it, I decided to pass based on the price. I do think this necklace is well worth the $78 price tag, but I decided it didn't go with enough of my wardrobe to justify keeping it. Sadly, this was a pass.
All in all, I received some truly beautiful pieces. I really loved everything, and my final decision came down to fit and price. I thought it was a very fun experience and I loved that I was able to reach outside of my comfort zone and try on some things that I wouldn't have selected for myself. The items in my Fix were at a higher price point because I selected that range on my survey because I was looking for some beautiful, high quality dresses. For my next Fix, I am going to try a lower price point and see what fun goodies I will get. I'll keep you posted.
If you're interested in trying different styles and new brands and you have $20 to spare, I would recommend it. You can read more about Stitch Fix on their website. If you do decide to give it a try, I'd love to hear about your experience.
