{Review} Stitch Fix

Let me introduce you to Stitch FixStitch Fix is an online personal shopping service, offering a new way to shop for clothes and accessories.  I love shopping online, and love trying new ways to shop, so I thought it would be fun to give Stitch Fix a try.  To start, I filled out a style survey so the stylists could get to know me, my style and my preferences.  The survey was very detailed.  For example, I answered questions about if I prefer dresses, pants or skirts.  If I wear mostly professional attire, formal or casual attire.  If I consider my style to be classic, boho, casual chic or rocker.  And then I answered questions about my sizing and price range.  It made me feel more comfortable with the process because the survey was so detailed.  It gave me confidence that I would get a package of things that would truly suit my style.  And finally, I was able to select a date for delivery for my Fix.  The Stitch Fix package contains approximately 5 items, and can be a mix of clothes, jewelry and accessories (depending on your preference).  The package arrives on a Wednesday or Thursday and you have until Monday to try to on the clothes and whatever you don't want, you can return in a prepaid envelope.  Easy-peasy!  All that I paid at the time I placed my order was a $20 styling fee.  The good news is if I decide to purchase something from my Fix, then the $20 will be applied to my order.  There is no obligation for me to purchase anything from my Fix, but if I decide to send everything back, I will forfeit your deposit.  $20 is not a bad price to pay, considering the shipping and returns are free.  And if I buy everything in my Fix, I will receive a 25% on the total purchase.

My package arrived yesterday and I can honestly say that I was very happy with everything in the box.  I think the stylists did a nice job of selecting things that suited my taste.  There was a mix of dresses along with a beautiful necklace.

Here is a break-down of each item I received:
$149
I was very excited to see this dress in the box.  It's a gorgeous zigzag tribal print and I love maxi dresses.  I loved the deep-v in the front and the empire waist.  Unfortunately, once I tried it on it was too short on me.  This is a problem for me with dresses because I am so tall.  This would be lovely on someone else.  So sadly, this dress was a pass.

$152
This dress appealed to me right away.  I love frilly, girly dresses such as this, and I love the color.  It is very flattering and fun.  I debated about keeping this dress for the longest time.  I finally decided to send it back, only because I wasn't sure if I would get a lot of use out of it to justify the price.  It's a little fancy, and I don't get all that dressed up all that often.  Sadly, this was a pass as well (but VERY hesitantly).

$149
The print of this dress is darling!!!  It immediately caught my eye and it was the first dress I tried on.  It has a cute criss-cross in the front and back, that adds a sexy detail while still being modest.  This was the only item that I had never heard of the brand before.  I was so happy to discover a new brand that has such cute clothes.  Unfortunately, this dress was way too short on me.  I considered wearing it as a tunic, but the length was still awkward on me.  This dress was a pass.

$95
This dress I never would have selected for myself and would have never tried on if I saw it hanging on a rack.  Yet, to my surprise it was my favorite dress of them all.  It's very flattering and easy to wear.  And I love the coral color on the skirt.  I think it's very versatile and I could see wearing it all year.  This dress was a keeper!  Yay! (I'll be sharing a Look Book post soon)

Beaded Necklace
$78
This necklace is stunning.  The beads are beautiful quality and have a pretty shine to them.  The coral, pink and grey combination I found to be very unique and pretty.  I tried it on with different pieces from my wardrobe, and although I really liked it, I decided to pass based on the price.  I do think this necklace is well worth the $78 price tag, but I decided it didn't go with enough of my wardrobe to justify keeping it.  Sadly, this was a pass.

All in all, I received some truly beautiful pieces.  I really loved everything, and my final decision came down to fit and price.  I thought it was a very fun experience and I loved that I was able to reach outside of my comfort zone and try on some things that I wouldn't have selected for myself.  The items in my Fix were at a higher price point because I selected that range on my survey because I was looking for some beautiful, high quality dresses.  For my next Fix, I am going to try a lower price point and see what fun goodies I will get.  I'll keep you posted.

If you're interested in trying different styles and new brands and you have $20 to spare, I would recommend it.  You can read more about Stitch Fix on their website.  If you do decide to give it a try, I'd love to hear about your experience.

{Look Book} Watercolor Pastels

Dress: Rebecca Taylor (similar and similar)
Jacket: Anthropologie (similar)
Shoes: Seychelles | Hey There in Seafoam

Nothings easier to wear than a maxi dress and a jean jacket.  I live in maxi dresses.  I especially love them in floral prints and pastel shades.  Makes me think of Easter and all the fun festivities of spring.  Do you have a go-to outfit for spring?

I hope you're all having a wonderful week!

{Look Book} Spring Mix

Dress: Rebecca Taylor | Waterfall Cami Dress (similar)
T Shirt: c/o StyleMint | Jackson T
Shoes: Nine West (from TJ Maxx)
Ring: c/o JewelMint | Take a Bow Ring

I love playing with layers, textures and prints.  Layering a cute T under a dress gives it a completely new look and is a wonderful option if you want to make a dress more modest.  A simple cami dress such as the one I'm wearing is one of the most versatile dresses a girl can have.  I wear it with a blazer and pumps for a professional look, or a layer a sweater over it and wear it with boots and tights if the weather is chilly, or I wear it with sandals and my bathing suit underneath if I'm going to the beach.  Adding a simple touch like a belt, or some sparkly jewelry can completely change the look and feel of a dress like this.

As you might have noticed, I am a big fan of JewelMint and StyleMint.  They are kindly offering some wonderful end of the month promos for all of you.

HEARTSM – good for 20% off your first StyleMint T, first time buyers only, valid until 3/31
HEARTJM – good for 20% off your first JewelMint piece, first time buyers only, valid until 3/31

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  Cheers to the beginning of a new week.  I have a feeling it's going to be a great one!

Visions of Spring are Making Me Smile

Last winter, I did a post about 10 Things that Make Me Smile.  Since a new season has sprung, I wanted to share a few things that are making me smile now.  Each season has it's own beauty, but spring makes me particularly happy.  Here are some things around my house and yard that have me beaming from ear to ear...

this little blue jay in our dining room window

butterflies dancing in the sky

a new pair of shoes in my favorite spring color

popcorn popping on the apricot tree

a cheerful new pillow

my favorite tea (for every season)

plum tree in bloom

spring color from Chanel

So, how about you?  What little things are making you smile today?

Spring Style: Bows!

1 FREE PEOPLE Fly Away Top, 2 BETSEY JOHNSON Striped Bow Bangle, 3 NANETTE LEPORE Bow Clutch
4 TIFFANY & CO Bow Charm, 5 BETSEY JOHNSON Ship Shape Bikini, 6 JEWELMINT Take A Bow Ring
7 SEYCHELLES Pansy Bow Flats, 8 KATE SPADE  Silverscreen Bow Dress

Spring is officially here!  Hooray!  I love the happy colors of spring, all the sunshine and blooming flowers.  One of my favorite spring trends this year are bows.  I am loving bows on clothing, accessories, swimsuits, and especially jewelry.  I think a bow accent can add a sweet and whimsical charm to a look.  Just don't over do it with bows.  I think one bow accessory or item of clothing is enough.  Keep it simple and sophisticated.

I hope you all have fun plans for this weekend!  Don't forget to enter the Snoozer Loser giveaway, and The Weekend File giveaway too!

'American Girl' Birthday Party

Hi friends!  I promised I would share pictures of Lily's birthday party.  Over the weekend we celebrated her 8th birthday with an American Girl themed party. I took all the decor out of our dining room, and replaced everything with American Girl bags, dolls and decorations. I used round stickers and ribbon to create banners and to decorate the chandelier. I also got some cute coordinating fabrics from the fabric store and made a tablecloth. It was so much fun setting everything up. I wanted the room to look like the American Girl Cafe. Lily invited her 7 best girlfriends over and they had lunch and did crafts.  I think the party went off without a hitch and Lily had one of her favorite birthdays ever! I'm so proud of my little sweetie, and I love to make her smile.

Hope you're having a beautiful day!
