It's no secret that I really enjoying shopping for clothes and accessories. But what I enjoy even more is finding something that I love for a great price. I like to make wise choices with my purchases and invest my money wisely. Here are some of the tips that I use to be a smart shopper.
I know the sale rack looks intimidating and discouraging at times. But, it's worth taking the time to sift through sale racks for the chance of finding great bargains. You never know when you will find something you love for a terrific price. I have great luck at sale racks at department stores, as well as speciality retail shops like Anthropologie, J. Crew and GAP. I can say without a doubt it is worth the time and effort.

Thrift shops and online sites, such as e-bay and etsy are a great way to find fabulous deals on second-hand and vintage clothes, shoes and accessories. I love going to thrift shops because I can try things on before committing to buy and there are so many beautiful treasures to discover. Etsy is another wonderful option for finding vintage and second-hand clothing and accessories. I find that the sellers on Etsy are easy to work with and wonderfully helpful. Another place to find great items is E-bay. I've found amazing deals on some of my favorite pieces of clothing and accessories on E-bay. Remember to check the seller's feedback to make sure that the seller has a good reputation. The one downside to E-bay is that many sellers do not allow returns, so make sure that you ask questions about the condition of the item and measurements of the item if you have any concerns.

Waiting for coupons and sales is a great way to get a deal. Many department stores offer excellent coupons, great sales and Friends & Family discounts. Stores such as Macys, Bloomingdales and SAKS 5th Avenue have Friends & Family sales at least twice a year. During those sales, you can get 20-25% off your entire purchase and there are very few exclusions on brands that can be purchased. Anthropologie doesn't issue coupons often, but they do offer a birthday coupon once a year if you are on their mailing list. Nordstrom does not offer coupons and they do not have Friends & Family sales, but they will price match other retailers Friends & Family sales. It's a good idea to sign up for email alerts from your favorite stores, so you are sure to receive their sale and coupon information.

Keep track of the dates you make purchases and save your receipts. Most stores offer a price adjustment policy and if you have your receipt you can get money back if an item goes on sale within a certain amount of time. Most major department stores and speciality stores offer a price adjustment if an item goes on sale within 14 days of purchase. It can make a big difference to your wallet.

I love discount stores. My favorites are TJ Maxx, Marshall's, Nordstrom Rack, and Neiman Marcus Last Call. These are stores I frequent often just to browse and keep my eyes out for great bargains. They get new merchandise often, so it's best to visit often to find the best deals.

This is not so much of a shopping tip, but it is a great way to get some amazing things for free. I enter sweepstakes and contests as often as I can. I know many people don't bother because they feel like they never win. But, just stay positive and you might discover how lucky you are.

Hope you're having a fabulous weekend and I hope you have a lovely Easter. xo, Shannon
